Description

ALMA SUR is located on Andes Street, a few meters from the promenade and in direct contact with Barrio Sur and the Barrio de las Artes. This historic sector of Montevideo brings together the memory of candombe, the proximity of the Río de la Plata, heritage buildings, cultural spaces and a new generation of residential, gastronomic and creative proposals.

Designed by Carlos Ott, the building is presented as a contemporary intervention within that urban landscape. It is made up of ten levels of housing, 78 apartments and two commercial premises. The units are organized in two functional blocks and include one, two and three bedroom options, allowing them to respond to different family configurations and ways of living.

One of the main attributes of the project is its relationship with the views. The large glazed panels and the large terraces allow the interiors to open towards the Río de la Plata and towards the urban profile of the center. The transparency and the presence of exterior expansions seek to take advantage of the orientation, natural light and the coastal condition of the land.

On the ground floor, a landscaped area and a vertical garden with automated irrigation accompany the main entrance and function as a backdrop to the hall. This incorporation of vegetation transforms the arrival to the building and establishes a transition between the street and the interior spaces.

The basements concentrate garages and general facilities, freeing the upper levels for residences and common spaces. On the terrace there is the multipurpose room, the barbecue area, the solarium and a children's playroom, complemented by an equipped kitchen and its own services.

ALMA SUR proposes a residential experience linked to the landscape, light and cultural life of the sector. Its architecture combines the expressive presence characteristic of Carlos Ott with an organization oriented towards everyday use, offering a contemporary way of living near the river and some of the most emblematic spaces of Montevideo.
